 »How do I set this up?

ruv2000 I have a few password protected pages in my ebook that one will gain access by entering a password. But I need that password to expire at about 6 months after which they need to renter a password or it should be able to lock the file from opening or auto delete. Is there a way to do any of this, with ebook compiler. Please help.
regards
Ravi

ebookprofit Well there is a feature in ActiveEbookCompiler which will make the ebook expire or prevent the person from reading the ebook after a number of days of using or opening, it depends on your setting  actually how long you would like. When it expires, you may set if you like to ask for a password.

I have a video regarding this. You may see my signature if you like.

rlemire ruv2000;

I may be incorrect but I have never seen a feature in Activ E-Book that would allow you to expire an Activ password after a specific time period.

What ebookprofit is describing is a feature that would allow you to distribute a time limited demo eBook. This feature lets a customer examine an eBook for a specific time period and then be required to enter a password for continued access.

What I think you want is to do is activate an eBook with a password for a specific period of time and then close the eBook until a new password is entered. As far as I know, once an Activ E-Book has been activated by a password, it can not be de-activated in such a way that would require a new password.

Something similar to what you want could probably be developed using Activ E-Books ability to read and write to an ini file... but real security would require custom code using JavaScript and other more advanced methods generally not available with Activ E-Book. (like reading and writing to the Windows registry etc.)

For example, something like HYPrLock's Instant Refund Disabling feature could be used (with a timer) to disable an eBook after a specific time period -- but HYPrLock needs to be manually reset by the author before a refunded eBook can be re-activated.
