I'm trying to recreate (build and run) all my ebooks but I end up with Application files of 0 bytes in the Output directory

Harv,
Which version of Activ are you using. Is it the release version or the Beta for version 5?

It's version 4.22

Is there an index.htm or index.html file in the folder? And all of the files are in the same folder, right?

Yes, these are the same files I've been using for years.
However a little background.
A few weeks ago I noticed that all the Active EXE files in my folders were no longer there. That's 8 different ebooks.
It's as if I removed them in a tidy-up session but I'm 99% certain I had not.
So today I decide to recreate them - and that's when I hit the problem.

Have you tried uninstalling and redownloading the compiler. Try with 4.22 first
Also try doing Edit Output and changing the Output path (using Browse), and then compile.
If none of that helps, download 5.02 beta, and with this version:
Try Build/Build.
Do you get errors?
When the dialog comes up, what is the file size? On the dialog box, press Ctrl+L and a text window should come up with lots of complicated info on the compile process. Copy and paste that text and paste it into a forum post.
I would be interested to see your AEP settings file too, if you could attach them to an email, and send them to me.

Sunil,
>>Also try doing Edit Output and changing the Output >>path (using Browse), and then compile.
That gives the same result
>>Have you tried uninstalling and redownloading the compiler. >>Try with 4.22 first
I don't know where to redownload it
>>I would be interested to see your AEP settings file too, >>if you could attach them to an email, and send them to me.
I'm sending you an example
Thanks Harvey

Just a wild hunch, but try doing Edit Icon, and selecting a different icon, see if that helps.
If that doesn't work
4.22:
To uninstall:
In Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, Activ E-Book Compiler 4.22
If you try this, and get to Build/Build (as per my last tests), the window with the detailed compile info can be brought up using ALT+L (I made a mistake in last post when I said Ctrl+L)
P.S. Where are you physically located Harvey? (not the full address, just general area/town)

For some reason it's not in the Add/Remove Programs section.
Is it safe to just remove the folder Activ E-Book 4.22 in Program Files
- or click on the file unins000 ?

Yes should be okay to just delete the entire directory structure from Program Files.
Something on your computer (registry? something else?) is definitely stuffed up if files and the info for installation has gone missing. Hopefully not too badly.
Be sure to try the 5.02 version too, as I really want to see the compile log.
I'm thinking if things get desparate and we can't solve it over the net (but let's try that first), and you're willing, that maybe we could arrange a meeting... I'd want to have a look round your PC.

How's that for customer service.
However no need .... the reinstall of 4.22 has worked !
