I have over a hundred pages in my ebook that I want to be able to navigate in a glance. I want the system to generate the Table of Contents because I will change it frequently. Can I make the System Generated Table of Contents build it in Columns? I hope so - please help.

I don't think so, if you use System Generated Table Of Contents
You need to use the My Own Page option if you want to fiddle with the lay out.
Perhaps you can find a tool or script, which will generate a web site table of contents type HTML page, and then use that for My Own Page, page
