I like from the description, that you can make *.avi files, which you can use how to install some software.
I like also that you can play some movies.
Now, I would like to give a one minute speech in the book. How do I record the speech?

producer, but that would be quite a handy means to make (sample) movies and still be sure that kids cannot "read" them without a password.

If you have a microphone, look for Windows Sound Recorder in Accessories
There are some more sophisticated sound recording and editing programs that create WAV files that you can buy from Amazon etc.
