Hi everyone. what a great forum! I have an ebook and a web site, but have not quite set up shop because I am trying to figure out a relatively easy way to distribute my ebook to paid customers. The ebook is currently in PDF form and I prefer to distribute it that way if possible (without having to spend money on a compiler for now- as I have already spent too much money that I don't have). How have you all been distributing? Have you used passcode protection? If so, how? I want the distribution to involve me as little as possible. Please share your ideas in as much detail as possible as I am a technical newbie and don't know what a lot of terms mean. Thank SO MUCH! Miriam

I use ClickBank, which costs US$50 to set up - their service verifies the credit card before the download page can be accessed. http://www.clickbank.com A guide to their services (independant) at http://clickbankguide.com

I too use ClickBank.
You can also use PayPal. Then when you get an order, just send them a link to your download page. This page can be password protected or just a link.

hi. I've just finished the ebook and setting up the web site myself.
One alternative to selling through your web site is to use lightningsource.com. They accept ms reader, adobe pdf and palm doc and will add security to your ebook. The ebook is then distributed through amazon.com, powells.com and bamm.com. Lightning source's process is laborious and convoluted but it seems to work. You pay a yearly fee for hosting (£25, not sure in dollars). Then use you site for promotion and downloadable samples. There are others ie iuniverse, com and contentreserve.com but I have not tried them yet.
Hope this is helpful.

I'm moving this thread to our marketing forum, which I think is a better fit given where this discussion is going.
