I am creating my first e-book and am newer than a newbie.
What is the splash screen? Is it equivalent to a title page? Somehow or another, I got the idea that the author's name, book number, copyright info, etc. (the info that shows on the E-book info tab) would automatically show up before the first page that I made (index) and put into the source file, but when I do a test of my e-book, it starts with my first page. Thanks for any help.

The Splash screen is the little picture that is shown when the E-Book is loading. If you try the Help E-Book, it's the standard blue and white made with Activ E-Book Compiler graphic. You can change this if you want.
Here's what you need to do
Make a Windows BMP graphic file. Try to keep the size in pixels small and it's best to make it either black and white or 16 color. [fast loading and small file size]
A pretty easy way to make a graphic is to use Windows Paint accessories. Start this. Set the image size (Image/Attributes menu) to fairly small in *pixels*, say 300 X 200 or something like that.
Now save the file to 16 color or monochrome BMP (save as type in the Save as dialog). Do this before editing, as you don't want to draw fancy colors, and lose them when you save.
Now draw some stuff on this graphic, and save it. Save it to a separate folder from where all your source files are.
In Activ E-Book Compiler, go to Edit/Start up, and you can select the file you saved in Paint. If you don't want a splash screen, make the field blank. Click OK
That's it!
Now for your other question - the info about the title and so on, we put on the About page of your E-Book. Click the About button and you'll see it. We don't put this on your first page, as you may not want that! If you want it to put it on your first page, then you can enter the info manually there when creating that page
Finally if you don't like the standard about page, you can change that too - see Edit/System Pages.
