I probably will compile with Activ. (Reasons: I appreciate your kind customer service, personal responses from Sunil are unbelievable, the complete list of supports, the great, pages, forums etc.)
However, I am curious. YOu advertise the "starter" product which I find interesting. I currently am doing my own html and I am not too good. I like their "book look" but how does this work with ACTIV?
Is it the following? I plug my html into their product and they in turn make all the formatting work and THEN ACTIV compiles it? I guess that is it... BUT how are they for size? Do they blow up the size of the file? Can my sound files be handled by them? Thanks Frank

EBookCompiler
They give you a bunch of HTML templates and graphics
You slot your stuff into the template, and then compile it using Activ
As you have the HTML code, you can modify it or add to it to add sound, say using BGSOUND
One of the main questions I get is how to make an e-book look like a book - and this seems to do the job, without requiring a lot of HTML knowledge (if you know HTML/graphics yourself, there is nothing to stop you creating your own template etc)
Beyond the above, for more detailed questions about EBookstarter, you have to follow the link and ask them.

If I understand the starter package correctly - it's just templates for your page backgrounds. You will still need to use HTML to format the information on each page. You can create the same effect yourself with frames and/or tables (depending on what exactly you wish to achieve) and a little javascripting in order to have two pages change (for double page layouts) with one link.
