One of my larger ebooks has been cracked and pirated and the information is being sent all over the net. The traffic coming from the pirate sites is almost 30 gig per month (which is costing me an extra hundred or so bucks outta pocket in bandwidth fees).
These sites link directly to my ebook and then provide a small cracking program to open it. Additionally, I've seen a few sites that just outright list the various passwords.
I was a little shocked to see Ebookcompiler ebooks cracked so easily.....guess I was just not thinking about it.
Have any of you had this happen to you? What did you do? What can you do?
If I get into the business of changing my passwords every month or something like that, I'd confuse my users (who constantly download my stuff into their temporary internet files folders and have to download again and again)
hmmmmmmmm........very concerned. If this continues, it's possible that I won't even be able to afford a webserver on which to host.

Can you email details, relevant URLs, with clear subject line to webmaster@ebookcompiler.com
Save/print copies of any evidence against the pirate for possible use later.
I would also immediately file an abuse complaint with the pirate's host.

Thanks much! I sent the information to you....
I changed the names of the files they were linking directly to which should buy me a day or so, at least, before I have to figure out how to handle it. However, the bandwidth they're sucking from me is awful
Thanks! Dan

You could also block traffic from the pirate's web site, based on the referrer URL (or direct them to a different page)
Talk to your web host or a script programmer, and they can set this up for you if you don't know.
