Activ E-book, Hyprlock and networks

Snotface Hello, I've noticed a post concerning use of AEC on networked Windows XP computers, but am uncertain of a definitive answer: if one has produced an ebook w/ AEC and Hyprlock, can others on the network view the ebook if it were placed on a particular user's computer (I would think not)? What if it were placed on the network, and opened from a particular user's computer? Would it then be viewable by others (I'm not certain)?

My potential customer has opened the Hyprlock free PDF test demo successfully, and I believe the customer IT people will not grant permission to place the ebook on their network.

Any thoughts? Thanks, Russ

rlemire Russ;

I've just run a few tests on a wifi network and I found out that an eBook protected by HYPrLock can not be opened on a second computer on that network.

After a password is entered on a HYPrLock protected eBook -- a special HYPrLock layer of security is added to that computer. When the eBook is opened HYPrLock checks to see if the HYPrLock security is properly configured.

On a second network computer that special layer of HYPrLock security would not be present. HYPrLock would interpret this as a security failure and prevent the eBook from opening.

Unfortunately the standard Activ E-Book  protection does not offer this same level of protection. I placed a password activated (Activ E-Book) in a shared folder and was able to open the eBook on a second computer over a wifi network without any difficulty.
